There are spectacular view of varying angles of Mt. Sandford, purple and red “painted” volcanic cliffs. Several beautiful camping areas are easily accessible.

The Capital Mountain Traverse is an approximately week-long hike through stunning alpine terrain around the north side of Mt. Sanford. For hikers new to Alaska, the route-finding and glacier travel may be more demanding of advanced skills.
A five to seven day route around the west slope of Mt. Drum with stunning glacier and Mt. Drum views. This is a seldom visited are of the park with opportunities for side trip explorations.
This route provides a beautiful 306-degree view of the Mt. Sanford, Drum, Wrangell and Zanetti. This route takes you through stunning alpine terrain around the north side of Mt. Sanford.
The plateau rewards you with awesome views of the glacier river, Mt. Drum, Sandford, and Blackburn.
This monster challenge is a combination of all the routes touring around the Volcanic peaks. There are stunning views of some of the largest peaks in the park.
